The Society of Research Administrators International (SRA International) has announced winners of the 2022 SRAI Awards. The awards acknowledge individuals who inspire others and serve as a model for the profession of research administration. This year 26 research professionals have been awarded in seven different categories.

Out of the list of the 26 research administrators lined up to receive their awards during the annual meeting scheduled for 31st November -  4th December 2022 in Las Vegas, 2 recipients are from Africa. Boniconsilli Tusiime, a grant Officer at Makerere University College of Health Sciences, Uganda has won the John Robinson John Robinson Travel Award while Olumuyiwa Moses Desmennu of Ibadan University, Nigeria is the winner in the Collaborative Partners Initiative.

According to Tusiime this  award is an opportunity to boost the reputation of her institution, and cement credibility in the field of research management.

“I feel greatly honoured because this award increases our chances of building and strengthening partnerships and collaborations with international research administrators and institutions. I feel more energized to create new opportunities and expand on the existing network of young researchers within and beyond Makerere University,” she said.

The John Robinson Travel award was established in 2012 to support speakers in their early career to further their professional development. The award is given each year and supports travel arrangements for speakers accepted to present at the SRAI Annual Meeting.

In appreciating his win, Moses says; “This recognition and award motivates me to seek to do more, not be afraid to pick up a challenge and offer my token in a team for total team success”.

The annual event will bring together research administrators from around the world to explore the theme, “Leading Change, Inspiring Excellence”, and will feature subject matter experts from industry, government, health care organizations, non-profits, and institutions of higher education. There will be a diverse, innovative program for those new to the profession, mid-career research administrators, and high-level decision-makers.
