Call for Research Managers professional recognition awards

The International Professional Recognition Council (IPRC) is calling on research managers to apply for professional recognition. The recognition affirms your standing in research management in the global context and clarifies your future career path.

Applicants are expected to submit a portfolio of evidence to show the essence of their previous expertise and experience gained over a specified period of time.

Recognition may be earned in one of two categories: Research Management Professional (RMP) for Mid-to Advanced Career Research Managers employed in a research management position (3-5 years) and Senior Research Management Professional (SRMP) for Senior Research Managers serving in research management/strategic role for 5 years or more. The applicants must be a member of a professional research management association.

If granted, professional recognition will usually be valid for five years. Having earned this status means that the person is recognized as an established practitioner/professional in research management by peers locally and internationally.

Since the establishment of IPRC by the Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA) and its partners in 2018, the very first research managers were awarded their professional status in September 2019.

The professionalization of research management has been a key strategic goal for SARIMA to better understand the capacity needs and professional development preferences of the Southern African research management community.
