AICAD announces new opportunity for Adjunct Research Scientists

African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD) is excited to announce its latest job opening for Adjunct Research Scientists who will work in collaboration with the institution to contribute towards poverty reduction in Africa.

The role of Adjunct Research Scientist is a three-year commitment, during which the incumbent will be required to undertake at least one specific research project in collaboration with AICAD. The successful candidate will also be expected to publish a credible paper in a high-impact journal, with AICAD being acknowledged as a contributing institution in all publications resulting from the joint project.

In addition to research and publication requirements, the Adjunct Research Scientist must be willing to spend at least two weeks each year or a total of eight weeks within the three-year period on a full-time basis at AICAD. This commitment is necessary for effective collaboration and knowledge transfer between the incumbent and AICAD staff.

Furthermore, any inventions or discoveries arising from joint projects will be subject to an agreement between AICAD and the Adjunct Research Scientist, with AICAD retaining its rights in any intellectual property that results from the collaboration.

The ideal candidate for this position should have a strong background in research and publication in their respective field, as well as a deep interest in contributing towards poverty reduction in Africa through capacity building initiatives. This is a unique opportunity for international researchers to work with AICAD towards a common goal, and make a tangible impact in the lives of people in Africa.

Applicants for the position must meet the following qualifications:

  • Must be a PhD or Master’s Degree holder in Agricultural Sciences, Engineering, Technology, Health Sciences, Social Sciences & Humanities and other relevant areas relevant to the mandate of AICAD.
  • PhD holders must be at least 5 years post PhD
  • Masters’ holders must be at least 10 years post Masters
  • At least 5 years of research experience with proof of funded research grants
  • Must have held or holds a position in a university, research institute or industry
