American university in Aerospace Pact with Moi University

The Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) has signed a five-year contract with Kenya’s Moi University to facilitate collaborations on teaching, research and student exchange programmes between their aerospace departments.

The contract was signed in Kenya last Monday by MTSU President Sidney McPhee and Moi Vice- Chancellor Isaac Kosgey.

Under the agreement staff and student exchange programmes will be initiated, as well as joint research collaboration initiatives, in a deal that is likely to greatly benefit Moi’s nascent aviation programmes.

According to a news release from MTSU, McPhee informed the Senate of the Moi faculty that the aviation sector was growing quickly around the world, creating an unmet pilot demand which is leading to the hiring of teachers to work as airmen.

In 2009, Moi's aerospace college was founded and has registered approximately 210 learners and owns three training aircraft.

On the other hand, the aerospace department at MTSU was set up in 1943 and has approximately 700 students enrolled.
