The European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) has announced that it will celebrate its 20th anniversary by hosting the Eleventh EDCTP Forum in Paris, France, from 7-10 November 2023. The theme of the forum is "Partnering for Global Health Research Innovation and Impact in Africa - Celebrating EDCTP: two decades and beyond".
EDCTP is a partnership between European and African countries that supports research and development of new tools to prevent, diagnose, and treat infectious diseases in sub-Saharan Africa. Over the past two decades, EDCTP has played a key role in advancing the development of new tools and strategies to prevent, diagnose, and treat infectious diseases in sub-Saharan Africa. The organization has supported over 500 projects, ranging from basic research to clinical trials, and has been instrumental in building research capacity and infrastructure across the continent.
The forum will be jointly supported by the second EDCTP programme (EDCTP2) and the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking (GH EDCTP3 JU). The event will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, civil society representatives, funders, and others involved in global health research and development.
The aim is to foster partnerships and collaborations, share knowledge and experiences, and identify new opportunities for research and innovation that can have a positive impact on health outcomes in Africa.
The EDCTP Forum is an important event for anyone interested in global health research and development, and it promises to be an engaging and informative gathering offering a unique opportunity to celebrate the achievements of EDCTP and its partners over the past two decades, as well as to chart a path forward for the next 20 years.
