RUFORUM Calls for Abstract Submissions for Triennial Conference on Agricultural Innovation and Economic Development in Africa

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) has officially opened its call for abstract submissions for the eagerly anticipated second Triennial Conference. Set to convene from August 12th to 16th, 2024 in Windhoek, Namibia, the conference aims to galvanize stakeholders towards harnessing science, technology, and innovation for Africa's sustainable development.

Under the theme "Operationalising Higher Agricultural Education and Research Ecosystems for Innovation, Industrialisation and Economic Development in Africa: A Call for Action," the conference seeks to mobilize efforts to propel Africa's agricultural sector forward.

Bringing together a consortium of 170 universities spanning 40 African countries, the event will serve as a platform for educators, researchers, and agricultural stakeholders to share insights, exchange best practices, and strategize on fostering innovation and economic growth. The conference agenda includes scientific sessions featuring both oral and poster presentations, alongside exhibitions to facilitate networking and collaboration.

Interested participants, including researchers, scholars, and development professionals, are invited to submit short abstracts aligned with the conference's thematic areas. These encompass topics such as transformative higher agricultural education, sustainable economic growth, inclusive economic opportunities, and future economic trends.

Selected papers of high quality will have the opportunity for publication in esteemed outlets, including the RUFORUM Working Document Series and the African Journal of Rural Development.

Abstract submissions are to be made through RUFORUM's online platform, with the deadline set for March 31st, 2024. This call for abstracts presents an invaluable opportunity for stakeholders to contribute to discussions and initiatives aimed at advancing agricultural education, research, and innovation across Africa.

As preparations for the second Triennial Conference gather momentum, RUFORUM eagerly anticipates the active engagement of Africa's academic and development communities in shaping the future of agricultural education and research on the continent.
