RUFORUM announces SENTINEL project Awardees



The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) has released the names of the awardees of its PhD research scholarships under the Social and Environmental Trade-Offs in African Agriculture (SENTINEL) project.

The SENTINEL is an interdisciplinary research project that seeks to address the challenge of achieving ‘zero hunger’ in sub-Saharan Africa, while at the same time reducing inequalities and conserving ecosystems in focus countries of Ethiopia, Zambia and Ghana.

The project will provide 27 PhD research scholarships in which 20 PhD research scholars responded to the second and final award under this project, says an announcement by RUFORUM

Ethiopian applicants scooped nine awards followed by Zambia with six and Ethiopia garnered four awards.

Out of the 20 selected applicants, only four are women and include Baido Jacqueline from Ghana, Nsemiwe Nsama, Denga  Rudo Violet, Munyaka Justin from Zambia.

Established by 10 African university Vice Chancellors in 2004, RUFORUM is a consortium of 105 African universities operating in 37 countries on the continent.
