Strathmore University Launches Africa Green Hydrogen Hub for Sustainable Energy Advancement

In a significant stride towards sustainable energy advancement, Strathmore University has inaugurated the Africa Green Hydrogen Hub in collaboration with Curtin University and Griffith University. This groundbreaking initiative signals a transformative step forward in harnessing green hydrogen technology to foster a cleaner, more resilient energy future in Africa and beyond.

The Africa Green Hydrogen Hub represents a departure towards innovative and sustainable energy practices, bringing together academia, industry, and international partners in a collaborative effort. By focusing on green hydrogen production, which harnesses renewable sources like solar or wind power, the hub aims to lead the adoption of clean energy technologies across the continent, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions.

Her Excellency Jenny Da Rin, Australian High Commissioner to Kenya, underscored the importance of international cooperation in unlocking the potential of green hydrogen. She highlighted the critical role of partnerships in driving innovation and commercializing sustainable energy solutions. The partnership between Australia and East Africa, she noted, holds significant promise for advancing energy cooperation and addressing shared challenges.

Situated at Strathmore University, the Africa Green Hydrogen Hub will serve as a pivotal hub for research, innovation, and collaboration, bringing together stakeholders from diverse backgrounds including researchers, educators, policymakers, and industry leaders. Together, they will explore the transformative potential of hydrogen technology across various sectors, including transportation, industry, and power generation.

Dr Vincent Ogutu, Vice Chancellor of Strathmore University, hailed the launch as a milestone towards sustainable energy solutions.
