VLIR-UOS collaboration calls and scholarships still open for application from select countries in Global South

The Vlir-uos call for TEAM projects are medium-term projects that aim to explore, build and deepen academic/scientific collaborations among diverse teams of academics and researchers from target countries in the global South and Flemish institutions

VLIR-UOS is looking at stimulating cooperative projects between professors, researchers and lecturers and award grants to students and professionals. they are committed to offer both junior and experienced academics the relevant tools and opportunities to contribute to academically inspired, science-driven societal change in a rapidly changing and challenging world.

Currently, Vlir-ous has open calls for Masters scholarsips in Flemish institutions, the short Initiative calls and team project calls both the later targeted at promoting research collaborations

The Scholarships for Masters call, ICP Connect study programmes are accredited international study programs organized at one or more Flemish universities. The programmes focus on subjects aligned with the Agenda 2030 and SDG principles. VLIR-UOS supports a selection of 15 ICPs and provides an annual intake of 10 new first-year scholarships for each ICP. For this scholarships the deadlines are in February and March 2022 depending on the program.

The Short Initiatives (SI) calls are short-term projects that aim to explore, build and deepen academic/scientific collaborations among diverse teams. SI projects focus on a specific sustainable development challenge. In addition to strengthening research and educational capacities of higher education and science institutions, Short Initiatives create the conditions for uptake of new and relevant knowledge, applications and/or services by all development actors. For the short initiatives call the deadline is on 18/02/2022.

Team projects calls are medium-term projects that aim to explore, build and deepen academic/scientific collaborations among diverse teams. Team projects focus on a specific sustainable development challenge. In addition to strengthening research and educational capacities of higher education and science institutions, team projects create the conditions for uptake of new and relevant knowledge, applications and/or services by all development actors. The team projects call deadline is on 18/02/2022.

Vlir-ous is a network of 22 Flemish Universities committed to supporting partnerships between universities and university colleges, in Flanders and the South, that are searching for answers to global and local challenges.
