The 2024 meetings of the Conferences of the Parties (COPs) to the three Rio Conventions - the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) - are set to play a crucial role in addressing the ever-deepening planetary crisis. These COPs will serve as key platforms for enhancing global and national efforts in biodiversity protection, climate change mitigation and adaptation, land restoration and drought resilience, and for ensuring adequate financial support, especially for countries with limited capacities. IDOS will be active in these processes as an observer organisation. We will showcase our research findings at events and analyse progress made on various agenda items of the negotiations.
