Uganda’s National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) has released the names of shortlisted candidates for the various vacant scientific posts at the body. The organisation had advertised for the positions in the local media January inviting applications from qualified Ugandan citizens.
Categories of the jobs to be filled include that of health scientist, livestock physiologist, production scientist, breeder, nutritionist, product development scientist, apiculture scientist, and pasture scientist.
Other positions included those of fish biologist/stock, aquaculture scientist/ fish pathologist, fish breeder, agricultural economist and planning monitoring and evaluation officer. Positions of plant breeder-geneticist, entomologist, and biochemist and agro-forestry scientist are also to be filled.
While all the positions have a minimum of two most shortlisted applicants, the post of agricultural economist had the highest number of successful applicants with 11, while that of biochemist had the least with 2 making to the shortlist.
According to NARO portal, the Job for Apiculture Scientist -Bulindi ZARDI is set to be re-advertised, but the reasons for the decision have not to be disclosed.
Candidates should appear for oral interviews scheduled to take place between 23 April and 26 April at the Mukono Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MuZARDI) – Ntawo.
Those who applied for the positions and whose names do not appear on the shortlist are advised to consider their applications as unsuccessful, says NARO in the advert.
NARO is the apex body for the development and coordination of all agricultural research activities in Uganda.
