AfricaLics calls for application

The African Centre for Technology Studies is hosting the 9th AfricaLics PhD Academy, an academic research and capacity-building network focused on innovation and development studies in African countries. The online event, held in collaboration with the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, is inviting PhD students enrolled at African universities to apply for the one-week program.

The program aims to provide PhD students with opportunities to learn more about the multidisciplinary field of innovation and development studies, meet leading academics in the field, and receive feedback on their PhD studies. The academy will involve approximately 20-25 African students and a few students from other parts of the world.

The event will feature lectures from frontier researchers, sessions focused on key skills for academic research and presentations by doctoral students on their work with feedback from senior scholars.

Interested PhD students must submit an extended abstract of their PhD thesis of not more than 5 pages, along with their CV and a recommendation letter from their principal PhD supervisor or a senior scholar familiar with their work. The deadline for submission is 23:00 hours East Africa time on Friday 31st March 2023.
