An online seminar which will be of interest to TB and HIV researchers, students, as well as researchers in childhood diseases. Until recently, pregnant women have been excluded from clinical trials of DR-TB drugs. For 12 years, the South African Medical Research Council have been running a cohort of pregnant women with DR-TB documenting maternal treatment, pregnancy and infant outcomes after one year. During this time, treatment regimens have changed from two-year long regimens with an injectable to 6-month oral regimens. However, for individual patient and health systems reasons, the improvement in maternal treatment outcomes has been minimal and infants are at risk of TB.
