AIU 2027 INTERNATIONAL MISSION CONFERENCE

Reimagining and Repositioning the Role of African Churches in Global Mission

         Conference Dates: 23 to 25th  February 2027

         Venue: Africa International University, Kenya

It is widely acknowledged by scholars and practitioners that the Christian missionary movement is undergoing major paradigm shifts, in part due to the shift of Christianity’s epicentre from the Global North to the Global South. This was the focus of discussion at the 2025 Church and Mission Partnership Forum, held at Adelphoi Church in Gwangmyeong, Republic of Korea, which brought together Korean and Kenyan church leaders. It was agreed that a follow-up conference would be convened in Africa, where additional international partners and African Christian mission scholars, practitioners, and church leaders would further the discourse.

The Missions Department of the School of Theology (NEGST) at Africa International University (AIU), in collaboration with the Institute for the Study of African Realities (ISAR) (its two Centers: the Center for the Study of Religions and the Center for Church Engagement and Community Empowerment), and the Missions Department of the Association of Evangelicals for Africa (AEA) are pleased to announce the 2027 Africa International Mission Conference, to be held in Nairobi, Kenya. It aligns with ongoing research from the 2025 Biennial International Conference, which is grappling with and seeking solutions to the most pressing challenges, paralleling Christianity’s rapid growth over the last century.
