Moi University Explores Academic Collaboration with MTSU

Moi University is set to benefit from academic collaboration from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) of the United States, which is exploring ways to add a Kenyan institution to its roster of international partners.

According to the Daily News Journal, MTSU President Sidney A. McPhee visited Moi University in Eldoret recently, where he conferred with faculty and spoke with students interested in studying abroad.

Moi had reached out to MTSU with the interest in partnering with programmes in Aerospace, Tourism and Hospitality Management and Journalism and Strategic Media.

An impressed McPhee noted the efforts Moi has put on academic enterprises that solve the needs of Kenya’s economy, as well as the enthusiastic welcome put forth by the campus.

He further added that both institutions shared the same belief and had an agenda to accomplish that of the churning market is driven, ready-to-work graduates.

Moi’s chief executive officer, Isaac Kosgey had invited McPhee to Kenya after they had met in China in 2018 at a Confucius Institute meeting.

Referencing a formal agreement that the two planned to sign, Kosgey hoped that the visit lay a stable foundation to future collaboration.

McPhee saw the need for MTSU to expand its reach to countries across the globe and as such, the university has engaged about 40 active international partnerships in countries ranging from Bangladesh to Vietnam.

Moi University has an enrollment of 52,000 students while MTSU has an international enrollment of about 1,200 and 22,000 students overall.
