ANR launches call for the Partnerships with African Higher Education programs



French National Research Agency (ANR) has launched the call for projects Partnerships with African Higher Education, funded by the French Development Agency (AFD), as part of the "Welcome to France" strategy.

The initiative aims at fostering long -term partnership and development of French and African higher education systems by strengthening and establishing of university courses, including Bachelor, Master and Doctorate levels; it aspires to meet the expectations of African youth and allow learning from each other for the participating institutions.

 The partnership is open to 18 African countries defined as "priority" by the Interministerial Committee for International Cooperation and Development (CICID) including Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal, Chad and Togo.

The project selection process for the call will take place in two phases: Pre-project which submission remains open until September 2020 and then after an evaluation, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full project.

This call shall be financed for up to 20 million Euros by the French government via AFD under the policy of aid to developing countries with each winning project supported for an amount of between 1.5 Million and 3.5 Million Euros for a period of four years.

Each project will be coordinated by a higher education institution from a priority African country and one or more French higher education partner institution(s).
